00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judah, I'm here with Wolves reporter, Mr. Liam Keane. Liam, Wolverhampton
00:13Wanderers won, Everton won. Not a classic, not going to be talking about this for years
00:18to come, yet at the same time this could be a very important point come the end of the
00:23season. Yeah, I think so. I think we'd have all taken a point. Everton coming into this
00:27game were 7 unbeaten in the Premier League. David Moyes did a fantastic job in getting
00:33them out of trouble and keeping them out of this relegation battle. And despite them having
00:37a few injuries, a few knocks themselves, they're a difficult side at the moment to play. And
00:41I thought Wolves probably edged it. I think Wolves probably edged it on the overall performance.
00:45I think if Wolves had nicked a winner at the end there, Everton wouldn't have had too many
00:49complaints, but a point is probably about right. I think it's a fair result. It's about
00:53right. Wolves may be missing a little bit of that clinical edge going forward, but I
00:59thought defensively... Well, he was sat in the executive box for clinical edge. Yeah.
01:03But there were lots of very good performances defensively. Defensively, all three of the
01:06back three, Doc, Agbidu and Totti, I thought all of them were excellent. I thought Andrei
01:11Xhalgomes were fantastic. Maybe one of their best games as a pairing. As a pairing, I completely
01:16agree. I thought they were both fantastic. I thought Belagard was brilliant again. Manezi
01:21takes his goal really well. Maybe a little bit quiet before that, but I thought he was
01:23growing into it, using his physical abilities really well. And a player off the bench in
01:28Pablo Sarabia, who I thought had a really good impact, actually. A lot of really good
01:31deliveries, goes close with a free kick and was lively. So you could go across the border,
01:38really. It was a solid performance from Wolves and they earned the point. It was a hard-earned
01:42point and they showed a bit of bottle. They battled and they fought and they earned that
01:47point. And as you say, it could be a really important one. Yeah, look, they show character
01:50as well, going 1-0 down. Disappointing goal positionally. It was a disappointing goal
01:54to concede. Unlucky as well, with the deflection as well. Yeah, unlucky with the deflection.
01:58That's been going on, but at the same time, you can't have that space at the edge of the
02:02box there and you're asking for trouble. It's made us well out of position as well. Well
02:04out of position, yeah. So it was a disappointing goal to concede. Pereira wasn't happy. And
02:08you could have hidden then. You could have really just gone into the shell and they didn't.
02:14They came back, they got the equaliser. When you're 1-0 down here, Everton are under the
02:17lights of the TV game. Pressure's on you. And they showed a bit of metal, like you say,
02:21a bit of bottle, to be fair to them. I think Manez, let's see what the injury is at this
02:25moment in time. I know he's carrying it, going into it. Hopefully it's not too serious. But
02:28he just threatened with the header as well, hadn't he? Yeah. So that was a really good
02:32save from Pickford and then scored his goal. I think that will help him as well because
02:35we all know the chances that he's had and he hasn't put them away. Getting his first
02:39goal in Wolves clubs will definitely help him going forward. Yeah, 100%. And it was
02:41a nice goal as well. It was a nice team goal. Aiden Norridge as well to carry the ball,
02:45feed a little pass inside for Bellegarde, who I've reiterated again, I thought was excellent
02:50all night tonight. Confident on the ball. Very, very confident. It's amazing what confidence
02:53can do for a player and all of a sudden... And it's a slightly different position in
02:56this front three because he's not being asked to follow the touchline. He's able to come
02:59inside and it's suiting him down to the ground at the moment. Picks the ball up, charges
03:03forward, feeds a lovely pass through and Manez slides in. Slightly unsighted by the defender
03:08who misses it and then he just gets enough on it to take it past Pickford. But it was
03:12a nice goal. It was a good moment for him. Something that I think will really help and
03:16aid his confidence and we'll find out, speak to Pereira about the injury and hopefully
03:20he's okay. But if he is, we both said in that first half, that team that started tonight
03:24is probably the team that plays the next few games. I think so. Look, we talk about you
03:28saying maybe Wolves aged it and quite rightly so. They had a great chance, I think towards
03:33the end of the game, but then bang, Everton broke and we talk about the good performances.
03:36Well, Jose Sala against Benfield there, 1-1. That is a save that's got them a point there.
03:41So you've got to give him credit as well. Exactly that. I was going to say, I mentioned
03:44a lot of individuals and I think collectively the team was played really well, but at big
03:48moments when individuals had to step up, they did. Jose Sala was pretty much untroubled
03:52all night tonight. Obviously the goal goes in, it's meant to take a massive deflection
03:56and he's not at fault for that. Otherwise, he didn't have a lot to do. I thought he came
04:00out and claimed a few crosses really well, came out and punched a few crosses as well,
04:04which I thought he did. He was commanding in his area. And then the one big moment that
04:07he does have, when Everton break, Alcres finds Beto, maybe a slightly tame shot, but
04:13regardless it's 1-1. I think it's a good save. I do think it's a good save. He pushes it
04:19away perfectly, goes down perfectly and salvages Wolves. What would have been an unjust defeat,
04:26but when all the individuals were needed, they stepped up and that was the important
04:30part. But like I say, no Mateus Cunha tonight, so they had to change. There was a different
04:34formation. They had to show what they're about and I think this is a team now and they've
04:38got to take it in this mini six game period or five game period now, or four games if
04:42it's pretty much, we'll see what happens. But they've got one out of the way. They've
04:45got a point. They've extended that gap on Ipswich and Leicester. That goal difference
04:49is even better now, 13 as it stands. So all in all, it's been a very good, Leicester still
04:53got to play of course, but this has been a challenge. Yeah. So they're going to get hammered.
04:57Please don't say that. But it's a very good weekend isn't it so far for Wolves. We'll
05:03take that. It is. We're not going to keep on winning and winning and winning. You know,
05:06if you can extend that gap without your talismanic striker and you do that week to week to week,
05:11they're going to be in a great position. This is a good, good evening. It is a good evening.
05:14It is. Wolves showed a lot of character, bottle of fights and could have nicked it. The fans
05:19were with them. Um, they pretty much dominate the most of that second half apart for obviously
05:24better having that big chance. Um, every time we go through the motions a little bit and
05:28were camped in their own, in their own half and in their own boxing for quite a lot of
05:31it. Um, and, and, and Wolves showed a lot, I thought, uh, character for a side that is
05:37missing that player as well. It's not just the performance in itself, but it's the context
05:41around it and the fact that they were missing a player as important as Mateus Cunha. So
05:44uh, it will be an important one. Ipswich losing obviously late on as well to Palace was massive.
05:49Um, Saints losing a leader at Liverpool and losing that game. It was an opportunity. Yeah.
05:55Burnley have got more chance of staying in the league than Southampton. Yeah, I know,
05:59but I've just, I've got to mention them. I've got to mention them. Um, cause we're playing
06:03them next week. I've got to tell you, this could be, this will get replayed if they end
06:06up beating us next week. Um, yeah, true. Um, and, uh, and with a ridiculous, by the way,
06:138pm kickoff, uh, Wolves have to go and do the business and they did. A win would have
06:17been perfect, but I think it's a good point against a team that doing well. Um, and I
06:21think Pereira got the team right, he got his changes right and the team performed. Yeah,
06:25absolutely. Wolves 1 Everton 1 for the first match reaction. Make sure you log on to expressivestar.com
