00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a postponement in tariffs on various imports
00:06from Canada and Mexico.
00:08Trump signed an executive order exempting some products compliant with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada
00:13agreement from the 25 percent tariffs for one month.
00:17Trump says his decision to postpone was a short-term maneuver to avoid hurting American
00:22car companies.
00:23The 47th U.S. President, however, insists that the backtrack has nothing to do with
00:27the reactions of the stock markets.
00:30No, nothing to do with the market.
00:32I'm not even looking at the market, because long-term, the United States will be very
00:36strong with what's happening here.
00:38Now, these are countries and companies, foreign companies, that have been ripping us off,
00:44and no president did anything about it until I came along, and then I did a lot about it.
00:50Canada has decided to maintain its first wave of retaliatory tariffs on $30 billion of U.S.
00:55products in place.
00:57They have, however, suspended the implementation of a further tariff on another $125 billion
01:03after Trump signed the executive orders.
01:06China, currently facing a 20 percent duty, issued a fiery response.
01:27Trump insists that he's committed to his tariff plans to usher in what he calls America's
01:45golden age.
01:47The U.S. president says his reciprocal tariff policy is also set to go into effect on the
01:522nd of April, implementing equal tariffs on all countries that tax U.S. products.
