00:00Hi, it's Simone Ashley, and I'm gonna be showing you
00:04a little bit of my skincare
00:06and a very simple date night look.
00:09So I'm just gonna clip my hair away.
00:12I like to use my La Mer cleansing gel.
00:15As you can see, it's nearly finished.
00:18That's because I love it so much.
00:19And I use just a teeny tiny amount.
00:24I never grew up doing much of a skincare routine.
00:27I always took care of my skin,
00:28but everything I do, I really like to do it simply.
00:31Otherwise, I feel like I'm like overloading my face
00:33and my skin with products.
00:35I had my first skin facial, like back in 2021,
00:40and that, then I was, you know, transitioned
00:42to the dark side, and I realized how great it is
00:45to take care of your skin.
00:49I was very naive, and I thought because I have dark skin,
00:53I didn't need to use sunscreen,
00:55which I think a lot of women with dark skin
00:58might feel.
00:59Dark skin needs some protection
01:01just as much as any other skin.
01:04I love to use an exfoliator on my face.
01:07This one is Goldfaden.
01:10I don't know why I say McFadden.
01:12It's pretty empty, because I clearly use it a lot.
01:14I try not to exfoliate too much,
01:16maybe like twice a week or something.
01:19And then I mainly go in around my nose,
01:21and then I'm gonna go on my lips.
01:25One day, she's dry.
01:27One day, she's oily, much like my personality.
01:34I use body lotion on my face before I put my makeup on,
01:38just because it doesn't roll.
01:39You know when you use certain moisturizers
01:41and they react to your makeup and then it starts rolling?
01:44And I usually do my makeup when I'm in a rush,
01:46so I haven't got time for that.
01:48So I love to use La Roche-Posay.
01:51There's no other way of saying it.
01:53La Roche-Posay.
01:55But in Simone's world, it's La Roche-Posay.
01:58And then I just like to put it all over my face.
02:02When I was a kid, I used to use hand lotion,
02:05and now I've upgraded to slightly fancier body lotion.
02:09And then, just to finish off,
02:12gonna use a teeny tiny bit of sunscreen.
02:18My skin is prepped and ready to have some makeup on.
02:23I kind of work backwards with my makeup,
02:26so I'm actually gonna start with my lip gloss.
02:30I wanna see the vision as it's developing,
02:32if you know what I mean,
02:33so I start with little lip gloss,
02:37Plump Ambition from L'Oreal.
02:40That's my nickname.
02:44Lips are locked and getting loaded,
02:47because we'll go back to them at the end,
02:49but I can feel them sizzling away
02:51and they're having a bit of a party.
02:53I am then gonna go in with my blush.
02:55I actually sometimes just use
02:57a little bit of the lipstick color
02:58that I'm gonna eventually use.
02:59I'm gonna go in with this Armani one.
03:02It's called Lip Power.
03:03Little bit, they can be friends.
03:08I actually realize I don't need to put as much on
03:10as I might think I do.
03:12You know when you're in high school
03:13and you start experimenting
03:14and learning how to do your makeup?
03:16I always loved like a clumpy mascara,
03:18and I still kind of do.
03:19So my eyebrows are a little bit crazy.
03:23They're kind of sparse.
03:25Can you see there's like little gaps in them,
03:28which is fine.
03:29I like to stain the skin just a little bit,
03:32and then I go in with another brow pencil
03:35and I fluff it up.
03:41Me and this eyebrow, we're not friends.
03:43This one just, there we go.
03:46So then I go in with my Anastasia eyebrow pencil
03:50in granite or dark brown.
03:58Eyebrows are now done.
03:59Happy with those.
04:02Tea break.
04:03Girls with dark skin.
04:05Color corrector changed my life.
04:07I had never really understood what it was
04:10until a few years ago.
04:11I get a lot of shadow around my mouth
04:15and color corrector just kind of balances out the shadow.
04:19I go in with my brush,
04:21and do a little bit here, a little bit there.
04:28I think when I was younger,
04:29I was picking out color tones
04:31that were maybe a bit too light for me.
04:34And then I started just buying stuff
04:36whatever worked for me at work on set,
04:39and I just stuck to that.
04:40And then maybe on another job,
04:41I'd be like, oh, this one's actually better.
04:43I would just kind of follow what the pros are using.
04:47I've got a little friend over here,
04:49so we're just gonna ask him to go away.
04:52My first experience as an actor was for a kid's show.
04:55And they asked me if I was okay with my makeup.
04:58And I was sat in the chair and they were like,
04:59oh, are you happy with everything?
05:01And I was like, me?
05:03Like, you're asking if I'm okay with my makeup?
05:06And I wasn't used to,
05:07I just thought I had to do what I was told.
05:09And they were like, no, it's your face.
05:12Then I really started watching
05:13how people were doing my makeup
05:15and learn what I liked and what I didn't like.
05:16I'm gonna go in with a little bit of a tinted moisturizer.
05:20I like using this Urban Decay one in shade 70.
05:24I need some waking up, come on, come on.
05:27I put a little bit, literally teeny tiny bit.
05:31This is actually, I would say this is too much.
05:34I would say this is too much.
05:36I would say this is too much.
05:37I really don't like going out on a date
05:40or going out with my friends
05:42and the makeup, like over a few hours,
05:44I start noticing it.
05:45I just wanna forget that I've even got makeup on my face.
05:48So less is more for me.
05:56And then this guy's really annoying me.
05:59My forehead, mm-mm.
06:01I don't wanna like, I don't put too much makeup on there.
06:04Cause that's where I'm prone to getting spots
06:07and unwanted visitors.
06:09I remember sex education kind of well.
06:12It feels like years ago.
06:14We all auditioned for the same role
06:17and then they kind of workshopped characters around us.
06:20And that's when I suggested Olivia
06:22like had bubble gum and blue bubbles and stuff.
06:25And she wasn't really a mean girl.
06:27She was just finding her way.
06:28And the more we watch the series,
06:30you realize that she's just finding her identity still.
06:36I'm gonna go in with a little bit of concealer now.
06:39Oh, holy concealer.
06:41What would we do without you?
06:42Feeling tired?
06:44Concealer.
06:45Got a spot?
06:46Concealer.
06:47I use the shade Walnut.
06:50This is my NARS concealer.
06:51Jessie actually used this on me in Bridgerton
06:54and I never looked back.
07:01Bridgerton feels very transformative.
07:04I turn up at 5 a.m. in my pajamas
07:08and then hours later I step out looking like a Viscountess
07:12which is just amazing.
07:14I think the girls on Bridgerton really,
07:16we all go through such a transformation
07:19with the wigs and the makeup and the dresses.
07:22It's such a dream.
07:23Every season I fall in love with Bridgerton.
07:25I love it.
07:26I love it.
07:27I love it.
07:28I love it.
07:29Every season I fall in love with Kate's looks more and more.
07:32Her makeup looks are just so,
07:34they started off very plain.
07:36She wasn't wearing much makeup
07:38and then the softer she got,
07:40the more lashes were fluttering
07:41and the more color on her cheeks
07:43and a little bit of lip stick, lip color.
07:47I learned so much from the makeup department on Bridgerton
07:50and I wish I could say it was my real hair
07:52but it's not.
07:53It's a wig.
07:54I can't say anything about this season.
07:56I would say as the characters progress,
07:57their makeup, their hair, their costumes
07:59all progress with them.
08:01I'm gonna attempt a little bit of eye makeup.
08:03I would happily step out like this
08:05with a bit of mascara
08:06but I'm gonna make an effort.
08:08I've got this Rare Beauty bronzing stick.
08:11I'm gonna just get my ring finger
08:14and dab it on my eyelids a little bit like that
08:17and just put it on the lid.
08:20We're gonna bring it down to the lash line there.
08:24My mom didn't wear too much makeup.
08:25She always wore like whole eyeliner, very Indian.
08:30I'm just gonna get this guy
08:31and I'm just gonna go on like my waterline.
08:38Today, I'm in a rush
08:40so I'm just gonna use a crayon eyeliner,
08:43the same one I used to stain my eyebrows.
08:45I'm gonna just go in tiny, tiny bit.
08:50I might be a little bit too smoky
08:52so we're just gonna go in with my brush
08:54and then it has a little,
08:55it has a jacket.
09:00I'm really excited for this year.
09:02I've got some very cool things going on.
09:05One being the first movie I've ever produced,
09:09Picture This, which is my rom-com.
09:11So I'm very tired.
09:13I'm kidding.
09:15I had lots of creative control
09:17which was really important for me
09:18because I grew up watching Bridget Jones
09:21and all the classic studio rom-coms back in the 90s
09:26and I always wanted to be that girl.
09:28I never really saw anyone that looked like me
09:30so I was like, you know what?
09:32If we're gonna do this, let's try and do it right.
09:35So I had creative say on the character quite a lot,
09:38on Pia's character and her background,
09:41which was super fun
09:43and I was just really grateful
09:46that the team at 42MP trusted me with that.
09:50I'm gonna use my mascara,
09:53which is my L'Oreal Paradise.
09:55Not just paradise, it's paradise boop deal.
10:05And then I also have the F1 movie coming out this year.
10:08It's produced by Lewis Hamilton.
10:10I would say that's one of the dream movies
10:13that I've ever been part of.
10:14That was an incredible experience.
10:16Just gonna go in with this guy.
10:21When I have down time
10:23when I'm not filming or in the studio or doing press,
10:27I'll go to the banya, which is like a sauna
10:31and do ice baths and sweat it all out.
10:33I have such a tight knit of girlfriends and friends
10:37in my community in London
10:39and I just hang out with them really
10:41and time with my dog.
10:43My dog is a big fan of the show.
10:46He's a big fan of the show.
10:47And time with my dog.
10:49My dog.
10:50Look, I've got this little necklace
10:51that has her face on it.
10:52I'm just gonna go in with a little bit of lip gloss.
10:57So let's take the hair down.
10:59Let's give it a bit of a zhuzh.
11:02I think it's very minimal.
11:04I didn't use too much products on my skin.
11:07So I feel like I'm gonna last all night.
11:09This was so much fun
11:11and I hope it was helpful
11:13for anyone who wants to learn how to do their makeup
11:16or any girls with skin similar to mine.
11:19We're gonna put on some Whitney Houston
11:21or some George Michael
11:23and dance around with an espresso martini.
11:27Bye Vogue.
