Controversial "Gone With the Wind" Still Holds Inflation-Adjusted Box Office Record

Adjusted for inflation, “Gone With the Wind” still holds the title of the highest-grossing film of all time. Right now, James Cameron's “Avatar” leads with $2.9 billion, but when you factor in inflation, Gone With the Wind comes out on top with around $4.6 billion, almost 10 times its original gross of $400 million.
