Man's death being treated as murder as suspect flown to hospital

00:00About 4.30pm yesterday, police from the Oxley Police District were required to attend a
00:24arrest in Tamworth.
00:25There they were presented with a 47-year-old male who had suffered significant injuries.
00:30Police then went to apprehend a 54-year-old male.
00:33He barricaded himself in that house, then made access to the roof of that house.
00:38After negotiations between police and that male, he was then detained after coming down
00:43from the roof.
00:44That 54-year-old male was arrested and he's in custody for the murder of that male that
00:49has passed away.
00:50The 54-year-old male, Tamworth Richard, who is known to police, he remains in hospital
00:57with self-inflicted wounds that are believed not to be life-threatening.
01:01Unfortunately, the 47-year-old male that was located in that house, he was taken to hospital
01:04but pronounced deceased at the hospital.
01:07Inquiries from Oxley Police District and the State Crime and Promotion Homicide Squad under
01:11Strike Force Elsner are looking into the circumstances of what actually led to that
01:15incident and if there's subsequent issues with that.
