00:00The Senate approved two resolutions honoring two tennis athletes who made significant contributions to Philippine sports.

00:12The Senate approved two Senate Resolutions 1299 and 1300 introduced by Senator Pia Cayetano

00:19aims to give recognition for the significant achievements of the Philippine tennis sensations,

00:24Marian Cappadocia and Johnny Arcelia, as Hall of Famers of the Philippine Columbian Association or PCA.

00:31Arcelia is one of the athletes who has given honor to the country since 1999 until 2015

00:37in various local and international competitions such as the ASEAN Games, Davis Cup, Southeast Asian Games, and many others.

00:45Aside from this, Arcelia also holds the record for the most titles in PCA Open tournaments

00:51as a 10-time champion in singles and 14-time champion in doubles.

00:55He was named the top tennis player of the country from 2000 to 2012, number 2 in 2014 to 2017,

01:02and regained his reign as a top player from 2020 to 2022.

01:07Meanwhile, Antiqued native Pinay tennis player Cappadocia also carved a great contribution to Philippine tennis

01:14due to her impressive performance throughout her career.

01:17Aside from the medals and awards she has received, Cappadocia holds the title as the top Pinay tennis player of the country

01:24from junior to elite division from 2010 to 2022 while number 2 from 2023 to 2025.

01:31Some of the highlights of her career are the bronze medal finish in the 2011 and 2021 SEA Games,

01:37gold in the 2018 Marine ITF Tournament, and the bronze and silver medal in the 2019 and 2020 World Cup of Tennis for Women.

01:46Zatsan PCA Open Championship title and induction to the PCA Hall of Fame will be considered a historical achievement for Cappadocia.

01:54Mr. President, these are real-life heroes who deserve the spotlight,

01:58shining examples for the next generation of athletes from humble beginnings

02:02and who continue to stay humble despite their exceptional achievements.

02:06Again, I congratulate Johnny Arcelia and Marion Cappadocia for their well-deserved recognition as PCA Hall of Famers
