00:00The budget cuts sustained by the PNP and BFP for this year run deep and are inimical to

00:05carrying out their mission to protect and serve, and to keep the men and women in uniform

00:10who protect the country up to speed with the pace of digital technology or AI.

00:15Upon seeing the huge error in the huge slash their outlays for this year, the President

00:19ordered for with the restoration of the amounts flashed from their originally proposed allocation

00:24as our Alan Francisco reports.

00:29President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has ordered the reinstatement of funds removed from key

00:35programs of the Philippine National Police.

00:38After a thorough review of the PNP budget, the President found significant cuts in the

00:43agency's funding.

00:44Among the affected programs are the PNP's information and technology initiatives.

00:49Another impacted project is the establishment of a safe camp security system.

00:53Also affected is the drug-related data integration and generation system.

00:58These projects were included in the National Expenditure Program but suffered budget cuts

01:03of nearly one billion pesos in the General Appropriations Act.

01:07The funds were redirected to the procurement of amphibious vehicles for the Bicol Region

01:12and an additional intelligence fund for the PNP.

02:06Cremulia added, the reallocated funds will be used for the bidding and launching of the

02:11integrated 911 system nationwide.

02:14The 911 system will be strengthened by increasing the number of call centers and dispatchers

02:19as well as procuring body cameras and location devices for police responders.

02:24Last year, 99% of emergency calls to 911 were successfully responded to by the PNP.

02:31Emergency response to fires will also be improved with each fire truck to be deployed having

02:36a corresponding ambulance.

02:38Cremulia stressed the importance of this measure, saying,

02:50Cremulia expressed his gratitude to the President for his support of the DILG budget,

02:59acknowledging his commitment to rationalizing expenditures and removing unnecessary allocations.
