00:00Luigi Mangione, the alleged murderer of Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO,
00:05spent several months overseas earlier this year.
00:09He had been unemployed, from what we have learned so far.
00:13He had been working for Trucar.
00:15He got laid off, along with 25% of the workforce there.
00:19Yes. And yet, during his trip overseas, at least while he was in Thailand,
00:24there was someone who spent a few days with him, and we spoke with this person.
00:28And he was bragging about money, about his wealth, about the amount of money he was making,
00:34and also about his family's wealth.
00:37And also talking with this person, who does not want to be identified,
00:42but talking with this person about a couple of books.
00:45Some of it didn't align.
00:47And by the way, we are in the process of doing a documentary that will air on Fox Network early next year.
00:54And I will say that Luigi told a lot of lies in the last six months,
01:03using aliases at times, doing other things that we're going to get into in the documentary.
01:08But in this case, he was saying that he was making lawyer money at Trucar,
01:16and that he had $6 million from his family.
01:21He had already been fired from Trucar.
01:23Right.
01:24And so, that obviously didn't align.
01:26We've kind of tracked his movements, and again, you'll see this in our doc,
01:30but he typically lived in hostels, which doesn't make a New York hostel that surprising.
01:38Right.
01:39He always stayed in hostels.
01:40But it's weird to be staying in hostels and bragging about your money.
01:43That's right.
01:44Saying, oh, I've got lots of money.
01:45But what somebody was telling us along the way was he liked doing it because he could socialize at the hostels,
01:50there were other people there, and he was kind of social.
01:54But in this case, it's really interesting because it sounded like he got deep in conversation about things.
02:00He did.
02:01He also talked about some books that he read.
02:02He said that, yeah, he was doing The Secret Assassin, Confessions of an Economic Hitman.
02:06I also think it's interesting that the source that said that he was in Vietnam with Luigi
02:10said that he last spoke to him in July, and that's the same time the parents said they lost contact with him.
02:15So maybe something happened to him in July that he just went off the deep end,
02:18and whatever drove him to do what he did really started coalescing at that point.
02:22Hi, my name is Stephanie from Maryville, Tennessee, and this whole thing is heartbreaking.
02:27I have a son the same age as Luigi, and from a mother's standpoint, I can't imagine what she's going through.
02:33He definitely seems to have planned this all along, and there's some mental issues, in my opinion.
02:39I just don't feel like he—I don't understand how you could talk about someone that you are worth the same amount as.
02:50Do you know what I mean?
02:51And so that's heartbreaking to me, and I have prayers for everyone involved.
02:55There is something you said that I think you are really, really on target here.
03:00To be continued.
