00:00My name's Jonny Coyne and currently I'm kayaking from Dublin to Istanbul on a World's First Expedition.
00:06About three minutes until we leave.
00:07About three minutes, yeah.
00:08Getting, yeah, the nerves are there but the excitement is there with it.
00:11Jonny Coyne and Liam Cotter are kayaking 3,000 miles from Ireland to Istanbul to raise money for Daisy Lodge,
00:17a respite facility for children with cancer and their families.
00:20They'll pass through 16 countries before they arrive in Turkey in March,
00:23an expedition that will take five months to complete.
00:25Day 11 kayaking from Dublin to Istanbul.
00:28We're just about to cross the Irish Sea.
00:30It's a moment we've been waiting for for a long time.
00:32It's a big day, Jonny.
00:33Woo!
00:34It was estimated that it would take about seven to eight hours, between 40 and 50 kilometres,
00:38all depending on how we got on.
00:40Liam had rudder problems straight away.
00:42We seemed to have got it sorted.
00:44I'm feeling tired.
00:45Feeling motivated in some way.
00:47And so we began.
00:49Break number two.
00:50Two hours, 20 minutes in.
00:5214 kilometres.
00:53I don't know if it's alright.
00:54I need to pee a bit.
00:57The aches and pains are there for sure.
00:59It's tough, but it's going pretty well.
01:01Over five hours in now.
01:03Definitely getting tough.
01:04It's pretty wrecked now.
01:06Just keep going north.
01:07You're doing f***ing awesome.
01:08OK.
01:09Let's do this.
01:10Lots of pain in the lower body.
01:12Mentally tired.
01:14God, no!
01:18Eight hours in.
01:19Very, very weird climbing for a boat.
01:22Hour f***ing nine.
01:23I just can't wait to get out of this boat.
01:26That's it.
01:27We made it to Scotland.
01:28Just as the sun is setting.
01:30Nine hours and 50 kilometres later,
01:32we made it to Scotland.
01:34We crossed the Irish Sea.
01:35And this is only the start.
