00:00Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos believes that AI has not affected job opportunities in
00:05animation and will provide new tools for creators. Amid growing discussions on AI's
00:11impact on the entertainment industry, largely sparked by the rapid enhancement
00:16of OpenAI, Sora and ChatGPT, Sarandos addressed AI during a July 18th
00:21earnings call. When asked about the possibility of incorporating generative
00:25AI into Netflix's content, CEO Ted Sarandos responded,
00:29I think that AI is going to generate a great set of creator tools,
00:33a great way for creators to tell better stories.
00:36And one thing that's sure, if you look back over 100 years of entertainment,
00:40you can see how great technology and great entertainment work hand-in-hand
00:44to build great big business. Sarandos also argued that despite the progression
00:49of generative AI, animation has not gotten much cheaper and that there are now more
00:53jobs in the field. Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters also chimed in on the AI conversation, sharing,
01:00We think generative AI has tremendous potential to improve our recommendations
01:04and discovery systems even further. We want to make it even easier for people
01:09to find an amazing story that's just perfect for them in that moment.
