00:00 Hello OG, I'm Artem. I'm Jane. This is our son, Mikhail. Welcome to our modern Kubo here in Batangas.
00:07 Welcome to Anwinehata. Tara, pasok po tayo.
00:26 Why Bahay Kubo first? Because in terms of
00:30 building and financially what we have currently, I think we
00:35 can build Bahay Kubo. And we are in the farm,
00:39 so we don't want to waste the experience that we're in the farm and then we have a
00:43 full concrete house. And we love the concept of its build of kawayan. We want to keep something fresh, something
00:51 eco and something which is aligned with the
00:55 nature, with the farm. We don't want to build a massive
00:59 concrete house. You went in and you don't feel like
01:03 you're in nature. Because here is a mix. There's a small part of concrete,
01:10 very limited. And the rest is either wood or bamboo. So when you are here,
01:16 you end up being inside the modern design. You feel like
01:21 you're resting in this peaceful place. This is amazing. It's fresh. You don't look like some kid.
01:28 And you don't know what's inside. So you always think that it's a Kubo, but when you go inside, it's quite modern.
01:36 Upon entering, you can see our open space living concept. So there's also a lot of place to sit.
01:47 We also have our
01:50 chill area here. We also have a
01:53 hammock to sit down.
01:55 We choose the open living space because it's so windy in the area and we love to see the nature.
02:01 The entire first floor is an open concept as well as our dining and kitchen.
02:06 Also a part of our first floor is a common toilet and bathroom.
02:15 The lot size is 1000 square meters and then the house itself is a guest suite, so 35 square meters.
02:23 Welcome to our balcony on the second floor.
02:30 This is one of my favorite areas in our modern Kubo. Here you can see we have a table, chair,
02:39 where you can work with your laptop, where you can read a book, drink coffee
02:43 during the morning, daytime and evening.
02:46 And also enjoy the wonderful view with the mountain in front and also feel the
02:53 wind going through this balcony.
02:56 When we came here, she introduced me to Kubo, Bahรก'รญ Kubo. I never knew it.
03:06 I never saw it. Like what's Kubo? So I was curious. Okay, let's see. Show me what's the Kubo.
03:11 Then I start looking at the Kubo and it's traditional made from the kava and bamboo.
03:17 But our concept back in Ukraine is again like
03:22 Kubo but modern.
03:25 Yeah, mainly all the idea it comes to us.
03:28 So the layout of the house, the design of the house, where the kitchen, living room, stairs will be.
03:35 So everything is what came from us.
03:37 Now we're inside the bedroom. This is the coziest part of the house. We only have one bedroom.
03:45 So we have a seat here wherein we can relax.
03:49 Bed that fits us three at night. When we wake up in the morning, we have a very huge window,
03:55 which is my favorite part of the house wherein you can see the sunrise.
04:00 Actually, we made this area wherein you can see the sunrise and this is my favorite part of the house.
04:08 We spent 800,000 pesos for the Kubo itself, excluding the furnitures.
04:18 But overall, we spent 1 million pesos because we transferred from one location to another, the house Kubo.
04:25 Because we transferred the post to one location from another, and every month we give to our constructor.
04:32 We were able to raise the materials.
04:35 So that's the risk we took by building the house itself.
04:40 Because we don't have an exact amount, the same amount that I mentioned,
04:45 so monthly by monthly, we're trying our best to give to our supplier so that
04:51 if we have a loan to pay for the house, they will build. That's why it's also been stretched out.
04:57 I'll give you a tour in our barbecue area. We would love to sit here and watch for sunset every day.
05:08 We also have a barbecue area here and a fire pit.
05:18 We're planning that, okay, he's working, I'm working, why not we invest our money in a property and build a rental house.
05:29 Yeah, we want to start something on the sideline, start together as a family,
05:35 to build something to also make an extra income.
05:42 Yeah, and do something unique here. And we discovered this kind of vacation house, like Bahay Kubo,
05:50 as it's called Harta, which is also in Ukraine. So we want to build something there, we want to start a family there.
05:57 But unfortunately, everything is...
06:00 Yeah, actually I introduced him to Bahay Kubo because he doesn't know what the traditional Filipino house is.
06:06 And we wanted to bring an Asian concept to Ukraine because we say there's a market there.
06:12 Because it's a unique experience for everyone. Like, oh, you feel that you're in Asia, but you're not in Asia.
06:18 But it didn't happen.
06:20 Back in Ukraine, what we experienced, it was also something like, for me as a Filipino, they want to repatriate the Filipinos.
06:32 And I'm with baby, so I'm against everybody that says, "I already left my husband, I'll leave him there."
06:39 "I'll save myself, I'll save my son." But he's not a toy, right? He's my husband, so I won't leave him.
06:47 I think about it every day, what would our life be like if it didn't happen?
06:54 Because you can't count on that.
06:59 Because we're already here, but I'm always thankful that we're here. We're alive.
07:04 We're alive. Thank you.
07:06 I can do it.
07:08 How we managed to do it while overseas,
07:25 here is a credit and thanks to my wife, because she's the one actually leading and carrying a lot of things in communication.
07:38 Yeah, I communicate more.
07:40 Sometimes I cannot talk in Tagalog, mostly English, but some contractors, they don't speak English, Tagalog.
07:49 So it's my wife who is in charge of that.
07:53 They recommend us to make the house a bit bigger.
07:56 So when they're trying to lay out where the bathroom, the kitchen is, they show me where.
08:02 They take photo, they show me, and then they say, "Ma'am, sir, the kitchen will be here. Is it all right for you? It's too short?"
08:10 And then I will say to them that because it's only in video and on photos, it was like, "Can you extend one meter more or less?"
08:20 So all the communications is really in messenger.
08:24 If you're going to make a house, a house, or a concrete house, no matter what, you need to see it.
08:34 Because we have different imaginations.
08:38 You really need to see the construction from time to time.
08:46 Since our plan in Ukraine didn't work out, and we decided as a family to continue our plan here in the Philippines by building the house,
08:55 the little money we have left, we also want to use it.
08:59 So now, we will open it for rent while we're not here because at the moment, we are living in Singapore.
09:14 So, that ends our tour. Hope you enjoyed and got inspired by our story.
