00:00 To our top story, some pupils of the Gloucester Large Road Moravian Primary School were left
00:08 traumatized this morning when 50-year-old Amor Howe was murdered just outside their
00:14 school.
00:15 Howe of Gloucester Large Road was fatally shot at about 9.10 a.m.
00:20 No other injuries were reported in the incident.
00:23 The school's principal, Claudette Governor, informed investigators all 194 students and
00:29 13 staffers were accounted for with no injuries.
00:33 From initial checks, there appeared to be no damage to property.
00:37 Police say the man was walking along Gloucester Large Road when upon reaching the school,
00:42 a silver grey vehicle with two occupants pulled up alongside him.
00:47 The man had a short exchange with Howe before shooting him several times, then driving off.
00:52 The man fell and died on the spot.
00:55 Police recovered at least 20 spent shells at the scene.
01:00 As it relates to this morning's murder, Education Minister Dr. Nian Gadsby-Dolley says support
01:06 services will be offered to staff and students once school resumes in the coming days.
01:12 She was asked about the incident during today's sitting of the Upper House.
01:16 As a matter of fact, it is a close relative of one of our teachers of another primary
01:23 school in that area and so we express our condolences on this very unfortunate event.
01:29 The event happened when school was already in session and it was in very close proximity
01:34 to one of our schools and as is usual when these things happen, the police were involved
01:40 and in that particular case, because of the proximity, the teachers and students were
01:45 dismissed early from the premises.
01:47 It is very likely that tomorrow they will not be out to school because we want to ensure
01:53 that the police have all access to continue their investigations.
