00:00 The usual way as an actor, you do your research.
00:03 She has an incredible book that I read pretty straight away.
00:07 I asked as many questions to myself as I could
00:10 before I knew that I had to meet her.
00:12 I had to sit with her and just get the energy,
00:16 get the vibes, and she agreed,
00:18 and she welcomed me into her home on a couple of occasions.
00:21 And I had loads of questions, like hundreds of questions,
00:24 and I didn't ask one.
00:25 I just soaked her in.
00:27 I literally just said, "Whatever you wanna tell me,
00:29 whatever you wanna impart is what's gonna help me
00:31 and what's gonna inform the shoot for me."
00:33 And it did.
00:34 She's like an energy spirit, ethereal being that,
00:39 I mean, I can only hope that, you know,
00:43 I was able to get a little bit of her in the film.
00:45 It was brilliant.
00:48 I think absolutely essential to have their guidance
00:51 and to have them at the end of the phone,
00:54 across the text, on set, behind the monitors.
00:57 You know, they weren't watching with like a judgmental eye
01:01 or questioning anything.
01:02 They were there just as like protectors of their parents,
01:05 their legacy and their story.
01:07 And although we're shooting a film, this is their line,
01:09 you know, and I think that they really trusted me
01:12 and Kingsley to come in and just protect their parents.
01:15 That was my sole purpose,
01:16 to make sure that Mrs. Marley was upheld.
01:19 So I don't think I would have been able
01:21 to reach the point that I did,
01:24 developing the Rita that everyone's gonna know
01:27 without their help so very very grateful they were in on everything.
