00:00 Not everyone is born with amazing, luscious, curly, perfect eyelashes.
00:04 So I'm going to show you how I use an eyelash curler to make it super easy when you're doing your makeup every day.
00:08 The first step in this process is choosing the right eyelash curler.
00:14 You're looking for a soft pad.
00:16 This way it won't hurt your eyelashes and it won't accidentally cut them when you're curling your lashes.
00:20 Which I know sounds really scary, but I promise won't happen if you follow these tips.
00:24 This is an example of an eyelash curler that's pretty generic.
00:27 You can see the squishiness of the pad.
00:29 It's pretty medium, but not horrible.
00:31 This is our second eyelash curler.
00:32 The pad is very thick, very soft and comfortable.
00:35 Not to mention this one is also bedazzled, so I love it.
00:38 The second thing you're going to look for is how the curvature of the tool fits on your face.
00:43 You don't want it to be digging into your skin.
00:45 You want to make sure that it is actually grabbing your eyelashes from the base.
00:48 This eyelash curler might not be the perfect shape for me.
00:51 I have a very specific bone structure that's just very angular.
00:55 So it's not feeling that comfortable right on my eye.
00:57 I feel like I have to push really hard and you shouldn't feel like it's hurting you in any way.
01:01 For my second eyelash curler, when I put it up against my face,
01:03 it's right up against this bone right here.
01:07 And right on my cheek too.
01:08 You can see it's going to be really easy for me to grab my eyelashes with this curvature.
01:12 A good way to choose the right eyelash tool is to go to the store, talk to a specialist,
01:16 and maybe even try out a few while you're there.
01:17 So now that you know how to choose an eyelash curler, let's talk about how to use it.
01:21 You should always start with clean eyelashes.
01:22 If you have mascara on already and use an eyelash curler, it's going to make them clump together.
01:26 It might make it easier for them to get ripped out.
01:28 And also it'll make your eyelashes look super spidery when they're done.
01:31 We're going to make sure that all of our eyelashes are in between the clamp and the cushion.
01:35 Then we're going to gently push down and make sure that none of the surrounding skin is in the eyelash curler.
01:41 So once you're comfortable, you can start pushing down and you can even do a little pulsing motion.
01:48 Can you see how much more awake I look on this eye compared to this eye?
01:51 I feel like this just looks like I have a lot of makeup on, even when I have nothing on my eyelashes yet.
01:55 If I want to make a more dramatic look, change the direction of the actual curler.
02:00 So it's lifted off your face a little bit and you're getting those ends of your eyelashes.
02:05 It's going to make your look very dramatic and look amazing.
02:08 If you have really straight, stubborn eyelashes, there are new tools on the market that are electric heated eyelash curlers.
02:16 It's going to have a little heat on it and work like a hair curler.
02:18 You can feel the heat coming off of the device.
02:21 Just make sure you're not putting it too close to your eye.
02:24 If you hold it here, it should really keep those lashes in place all day.
02:29 If you don't have this tool, putting a hair dryer up to your eyelash curler and letting it warm up for a little bit will do the exact same thing.
02:35 Even though my eyelashes were curled before, they do tend to go really straight.
02:39 So doing something like this will ensure that they stay up all day and they're not going to fall, even when I put mascara on.
02:45 While you're applying your mascara, start at the base of your lashes and wiggle your way up.
02:50 That way, you're going to make sure all your eyelashes are separated and getting fully applied with mascara.
02:57 Now you'll have the perfect shape every time you use your eyelash curler.
