00:00 Hey folks, we just got done riding Honda's Grom ABS.
00:05 Now, Honda originally started with its Minimoto Grom
00:11 for the 2014 model year.
00:15 This year for 2022, it gave it a host of revisions.
00:20 And we got to experience that
00:23 in the Grom's natural element, which is everything.
00:27 We rode it on the flat track,
00:29 we rode it on the dirt bike track,
00:30 we rode it at the supermoto track,
00:32 we rode it to get our groceries,
00:34 we rode it around town, we rode it on curvy roads.
00:36 There isn't anything that this bike can't do.
00:41 We'll start with the engine.
00:44 This bike is continued to be powered
00:46 by a 125 CC air cooled single.
00:51 Even though the engine doesn't make a lot of power,
00:55 right around 10 horsepower at the business end
00:58 of the 12 inch V rubber tire,
01:01 this bike is still very enjoyable to ride.
01:05 I really like that Honda fitted a fifth gear
01:09 in the transmission.
01:11 Now what that did is it allowed it to shift the gearing.
01:15 So first, second, third and fourth gears
01:18 are also a little bit shorter
01:20 than the previous four speed transmission equipped Grom.
01:25 Conversely, the fifth gear is a little bit taller
01:28 than the predecessor's fourth gear.
01:30 That allows it to still get really good fuel mileage.
01:34 We average right around 98 miles per gallon
01:38 out of this motorcycle.
01:39 The fuel tank capacity also increased
01:43 by right around 0.67 quarts.
01:46 So you have a little bit more fuel capacity
01:48 to get you where you're going.
01:50 I also like that this motorcycle
01:52 runs on conventional 87 octane fuel.
01:56 No need to pump premium fuel into this motorcycle.
02:01 Now it's worth noting that this particular vehicle
02:05 isn't legal for use on California interstate freeways.
02:10 You have to have an engine that displaces over 150 CCs
02:16 for this motorcycle to be ridden illegally on the freeway.
02:19 But around town, on the highways,
02:22 this motorcycle is capable of getting up
02:25 to right around 62, 64 miles per hour,
02:29 depending on how big you are
02:31 and depending if you're going up or down a hill.
02:34 Definitely enough to ride on the highway
02:36 and to get you to where you're going
02:39 within the confines of the city.
02:41 I really like this motorcycle
02:43 just because it's so light and lively
02:46 in terms of its handling.
02:48 It weighs right around 230 pounds with a full tank of fuel,
02:51 but in motion it feels so much more light
02:54 than its curb weight employs.
02:56 It feels just like a mini bike.
02:58 With 12 inch wheels,
02:59 it's really easy to put the bike where you want.
03:01 Obviously you can see it here,
03:03 it doesn't take a lot of room to park.
03:06 It doesn't take a lot of garage space.
03:08 And it's really a versatile motorcycle that's home,
03:11 whether you live in downtown New York City
03:15 or out in the country.
03:16 It tackles all of these road surfaces
03:20 and areas really well.
03:22 I also really like what Honda did
03:24 with the instrumentation on this motorcycle.
03:27 It now has a programmable shift light.
03:29 It also now has a gear position indicator,
03:32 which is really handy if you're a new rider.
03:35 The clutch response is very light.
03:38 It is very easy to feel the engagement point
03:42 between the throttle and the clutch.
03:43 And if you were someone
03:44 who was just getting into motorcycle riding,
03:47 this $3,600 Grom ABS would be a good option.
03:52 It's very easy to ride.
03:54 It's very affordable.
03:56 And with the optional ABS,
03:59 it helps prevent any slips and slides
04:02 when you're using the front brake aggressively.
04:05 Overall, just another very fun motorcycle
04:08 from American Honda.
04:10 There's not a lot that this bike can't do.
04:13 And for the price of $3,600,
04:15 you're gonna have a motorcycle that's heaps of fun,
04:19 easy to live with, easy to park,
04:21 and doesn't cost much to operate.
04:25 Well, folks, that's a wrap from our first ride
04:27 of Honda's 2022 Grom ABS.
