00:00 I am the Sage of Spirit, and one of the Zonai.
00:07 Minoru.
00:11 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're back with our fourth video for 20 more secrets
00:16 in Tears of the Kingdom, including easter eggs, mechanics, and other hidden details.
00:22 As always, be wary of spoilers ahead.
00:25 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:37 the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:41 The Sage Symbols.
00:54 Each of the sages and each of their secret stones has a symbol that represents them.
00:58 What some players may not have realized is that these are based on kanji, symbols in
01:03 Japanese that represent specific words.
01:06 In fact, each sage's corresponding kanji translates to the element or ability they
01:11 each wield.
01:18 Toulin is wind, Yonobo is fire, Sidon is water, Riju is lightning, Zelda is time, Minoru is
01:24 spirit, and Rauru is light.
01:27 Interestingly, when Ganondorf steals Sonia's stone, the symbol changes.
01:31 Naturally, his corresponding kanji translates to gloom.
01:39 The Buried Bargainer.
01:48 By now, most realize that the depths are a reflection of the surface.
01:52 One way in which it mirrors what's above is with bargainer statues.
01:56 You can find one underneath the Hylia statues of the world above.
01:59 But something I didn't realize until recently has to do with the bargainer found at the
02:03 Great Abandoned Central Mine.
02:08 This one is buried up to its neck, while others tower above Link.
02:12 The Hylia statue above it is found on the Great Plateau, meaning it's at a slightly
02:17 higher elevation point than most others.
02:20 Having the bargainer sink lower because of it was a subtle but clever design choice on
02:25 Nintendo's part.
02:32 Resource Counterparts.
02:40 The depths are a great place to find the game's new resources, especially bomb flowers, muddle
02:45 buds, and puffshrooms.
02:47 You can find them scattered everywhere, but you can also find them in specific spots.
02:52 They can each be collected next to giant plants they share a resemblance with.
02:57 Puffshrooms can be found next to gigantic mushrooms, bomb flowers next to trees with
03:01 big bulbs on the top, and muddle buds next to trees with the same characteristic swirl.
03:06 So if you see one of these giant plants on your travels, they signal what resources you
03:11 can grab there.
03:17 Fairies at Lover's Pond.
03:23 After saving Luralyn Village, Link can talk to Numar about the painting in his house of
03:28 Lover's Pond.
03:29 Notably, it features fairies.
03:31 He tells you it was done by Zelda, who used to visit the spot, but only at night.
03:40 Sure enough, if you go to Lover's Pond during the day, you'll see no fairies.
03:45 However, as soon as the clock strikes 5pm, they'll appear.
03:49 It's important to note that they won't show up if you already have fairies in your inventory.
03:54 No need to waste time waiting like I did.
04:01 A Fearsome Drawing.
04:08 At certain stables across Hyrule, Link will hear rumors of a ferocious horned beast and
04:13 Princess Zelda's relation to it.
04:16 Specifically, at Dueling Peak's stable, two children talk about it while one draws a pawprint
04:21 they found in the dirt.
04:22 The so-called beasts in question are Dondons, the only herd of which Link can find near
04:27 the Lakeside Stable in the Faron region.
04:31 Afterwards, you can return to these children, and they'll change up their drawing based
04:38 on Link's description, and give him a swift carrot for the news.
04:42 Not much of a reward, but a cute interaction some may not have gone back for.
04:50 The Changing of the Seasons.
04:58 While Josh of the channel already made a short about this, it's a great detail players probably
05:03 don't think about while traveling around Hyrule.
05:06 A lot of time has obviously passed in between games, but Tears of the Kingdom also appears
05:11 to be in a different season.
05:13 This explains a lot of the new resources you can collect like tomatoes and elemental fruits,
05:18 as well as the absence of others like durians.
05:21 The sun is also at a different point in the sky, while cold locations need less protective
05:26 gear than they did in Breath of the Wild.
05:34 That makes sense, as cherry blossom trees are in full bloom, which happens during springtime
05:39 in our world.
05:45 Floral Relation.
05:54 This one's small, but nonetheless interesting.
05:56 Another new resource in the game is the Sundalion, a flower primarily found on Sky Islands that
06:01 can heal the gloom effect when cooked into meals.
06:04 When looked at next to a silent princess, the two seem to be palette-swapped versions
06:09 of each other, but Nintendo seemingly didn't do this on a whim or because it was easier
06:13 to design.
06:17 The silent princess is closely linked to Zelda, while the Sundalion is linked to Queen Sonia.
06:23 Since the two are related, albeit very, very distantly, it makes sense that their flowers
06:29 would be so similar and yet so different.
06:41 Blightless Birds.
06:48 Since one of the places they can be found is the Great Sky Island, the forest ostrich
06:52 is one of the first animals you'll come into contact with in Tears of the Kingdom.
06:57 Like many others, it will flee when startled and can be hunted for some meat.
07:01 However, some players found their design quite similar to the Loftwings in Skyward Sword.
07:12 They have a similar build and beak, and so many have theorized that these are the same
07:17 species, just devolved over time to no longer fly.
07:21 The fact that they can only be found on the Sky Islands only adds fuel to the fire.
07:31 Secret Beta World.
07:38 One of the newest discoveries we've come across is the existence of a secret beta world.
07:43 While modding, YouTuber Waikuteru found themselves in a test area labeled "Distance View", which
07:49 they believe was used to test faraway objects.
07:53 It's a mostly empty void with chunks of rock floating around.
08:03 You can still use Zonai devices and sage abilities while inside, and while there is no collision
08:08 with most of the assets, there are invisible walls that will cut your travel short.
08:13 It's unclear if there's another method for reaching this area, but we recommend checking
08:17 out Waikuteru's video for yourself.
08:27 Powerful Portable Pot.
08:36 Players have found several alternative uses for the portable pot, such as using it to
08:41 recharge Link's energy cell.
08:43 But these things are also surprisingly powerful.
08:46 When attached to an arrow, they can destroy an enemy's armor, saving you time, weapon
08:51 durability, or from using a bomb.
08:53 They also work on natural rock armor, like those of Rocklikes, or just destroy a wall
08:59 of boulders in your way.
09:06 The unfortunate exception to this are Lynels.
09:10 Using a portable pot arrow at an armored version will only chip away.
09:19 The Zonite Family Bow.
09:28 The Zonite Bow is a pretty neat weapon.
09:31 As Link readies an arrow, it draws from his energy cell, with the arrow flying farther
09:35 depending on how long he holds it for.
09:37 Its design also holds an easter egg, one you might miss if not looking closely.
09:43 Across the bow are miniature versions of the ancient sage masks.
09:47 The gecko, camel, bird, and elephant.
09:54 It makes total sense that Zonite weaponry would pay homage to the sages, given their
09:58 importance in defeating the demon king.
10:01 And this is a nice detail that makes an already cool weapon even cooler.
10:08 Draconic Homage.
10:16 Of course, the Zonite Bow isn't the only item to reference other characters.
10:20 Three devices you can unlock are the Flame, Frost, and Shock emitters, which can be fused
10:26 to weapons and shields, and added to whatever creation you like.
10:29 They each look like the head of a dragon, and they purposely have different horns.
10:34 That's because all three of them are specifically modeled after the three elemental dragons
10:38 you can find.
10:40 Dinral, Nedra, and Feroche.
10:46 The Ember, Frostbite, and Charged armor sets are also of Zonite origin, and modeled after
10:52 the dragons, leading many to believe the popular theory that the dragons were once Zonite.
10:58 Under Pressure.
11:08 Auto Build is an incredibly handy ability, keeping a log and letting you save a variety
11:13 of different vehicles and creations.
11:15 However, it also saves pieces that are not Zonite devices.
11:20 One of the most useful things to save are the explosive rocks Marbled Goma uses in its
11:24 boss fight.
11:26 If Link fuses one to a weapon, takes it to Tarrytown to get the rock removed, and then
11:30 attaches something to it with Ultra Hand, he will now have an endless supply of gigantic,
11:36 highly volatile explosives.
11:38 As long as you have the Zonite to build it.
11:44 They're also extremely heavy.
11:46 You can attach something flat to the bottom, like a piece of wood, turning it into a pressure
11:51 plate that can kill most regular enemies instantly.
11:55 And if it doesn't, the explosion should do the trick.
12:02 Quick Way Up.
12:10 There are many ways to get around the absence of Revali's Gale in Tears of the Kingdom.
12:14 One way is with updrafts.
12:17 Setting fire to a spicy pepper, or throwing a pinecone or some oil into a campfire will
12:22 create a draft that Link can use to paraglide upwards.
12:27 However, updrafts come in levels.
12:32 The most powerful one players have managed to create is by using four piles of wood.
12:37 Setting fire to them automatically creates the updraft, and when you enhance it with
12:41 a pinecone or oil, it creates one seriously mighty breeze.
12:51 Dangerous Delicacy.
12:59 Whenever Link vanquishes a Phantom Ganon, it will drop special weapons and dark clumps.
13:04 Also purchased at bargainer statues, these disturbing resources pulsate much like monster
13:10 guts, but are wrapped in special paper.
13:13 These are likely meant to be Ofuda, cards seen in Shinto and Buddhist religions of Japan
13:18 used to ward off evil and misfortune.
13:21 Since dark clumps come from vile spirits but bring out a gloom-resistant effect in recipes,
13:26 having Ofuda attached seems like a necessity.
13:31 However, why they already come pre-attached is a mystery.
13:38 This isn't the first time Zelda has included Ofuda.
13:40 They also held the mini-boss Death Sword in place in Twilight Princess.
13:49 Marvelous Minigame Music.
13:59 Nintendo loves to include musical easter eggs in Zelda, almost as much as fans love discovering
14:05 them.
14:06 There are a ton of minigames to find across Hyrule, some of which play different tracks.
14:11 Whether you helped Junie collect her plushies, played Ultra Ball Hall for Modar, or trained
14:16 with Ornest and Tabalt, the specific track for these games may have sounded familiar
14:21 to you.
14:37 The main hook uses notes from certain minigame themes in Twilight Princess, as well as some
14:42 found in Ocarina of Time.
14:44 I will never tire of seeing Nintendo pay homage to past classics through music.
14:58 Taking Your Shot.
15:05 If you're not the type of player to chat with every single NPC, you might miss out
15:10 on some special interactions.
15:13 In Riju's chapter, Link will have to defend Gerudo Town from swarms of Gibdos, part of
15:18 which means choosing where to place sword and spear wielding troops, as well as Barda,
15:23 who uses a cannon.
15:24 When the town returns to normal, Link can find Barda in the training area, where she'll
15:29 tell him they should fire off a round in celebration.
15:36 Interacting with the cannon will do just that, leading to a pretty silly interaction between
15:40 Barda and some understandably pissed off Gerudo.
15:51 Prelude to Minoru.
15:59 It's eventually revealed that Minoru, King Rauru's sister and the fifth sage, separated
16:04 her spirit from her body.
16:06 She resided in the Pura Pad for thousands of years until it was time to team up with
16:10 Link, then moving into the body of a construct.
16:14 Nintendo included some pretty clever foreshadowing of a secret sage linked to the device that
16:19 most of us probably didn't pick up on.
16:27 When Link is given the Pura Pad during the opening, it's kept with a piece of fabric.
16:32 Although incredibly faded, it's the same fabric that makes up Minoru's scarf, which
16:36 can clearly be seen in flashbacks that feature her.
16:46 Yiga Armor Reactions.
16:55 In one of our past videos, we talked about how certain members of the Yiga and Sheikah
16:59 react to Link's Yiga Armor set, but there are a whole lot more we didn't cover.
17:05 Many players were delighted to find that the Yiga don't attack Link when he's dressed
17:09 like them, even when they're disguised as Evermeans.
17:13 However, Impa can tell you this fact early on.
17:21 The Gerudo will toss Link straight into jail for wearing the offensive gear while inside
17:26 the town, but if you wear the set at the Karakara Bazaar, shopkeepers will refuse to sell to
17:31 you while soldiers will threaten to murder you.
17:34 If you want to hear something nice about the armor, head to CC who's actually delighted
17:39 by the authenticity.
17:40 Don't think it will get you out of the Master Koga fights, though.
17:43 Unlike his underlings, he knows who hides behind the mask.
17:54 The Trolliest Chest
18:03 Hyrule Castle holds a lot of treasure, but there's one chest that's seemingly only there
18:08 to mess with you.
18:10 The chest in question is directly underneath the floating fortress, sitting in a very small
18:15 room surrounded by rocks that annoyingly stick out of the bottom.
18:19 Not only is it a pain to spot and reach, but all you get for your frustration is a Royal
18:24 Broadsword, a pretty common weapon.
18:27 Ascending from this spot does put you in Zelda's room, where you can find some much better
18:32 weapons and the Royal Guard Cap.
18:41 But it's more than possible, and far easier, to reach this room through other methods.
18:46 And the worst part?
18:48 If you set your sensor to look for treasure chests, it will pick this one up while you're
18:52 exploring the castle, and likely drive you mad.
19:00 Is there a secret you feel you're the only one to have discovered?
19:03 Share your knowledge in the comments, and don't forget to check out these other great
19:07 videos.
19:15 Thanks for watching.
19:16 If you enjoyed the video, there's more where that came from.
19:18 See you next time.
