00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:03 Yes.
00:11 He's one of the most popular husbands on Bravo
00:14 and the man behind Buying Beverly Hills.
00:18 And she is a pro dancer looking to lead him
00:21 to the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
00:23 From Dancing to Stars, please welcome Marisa Umansky
00:26 and Emma Slater, our friends.
00:29 OK, first of all, Tuesday night.
00:31 Yes, Justin.
00:32 Take me back to the dance floor.
00:34 It was Latin night.
00:36 It was yours.
00:37 But you had a misstep.
00:39 What was going through your head?
00:40 What threw you off?
00:41 Justin, I owned this dance.
00:43 It was mine.
00:44 We had it.
00:44 I nailed it 15, 20, 25 times in a row in rehearsal.
00:49 We had it going on.
00:50 And I just went into this mode where
00:53 I really wanted to perform.
00:54 And I went into full performance.
00:56 I was actually telling Emma today,
00:58 I figured out what was going on.
00:59 I went into full performance mode.
01:00 And when I came out of this one move and I stood up,
01:02 I had a blackout for the first time in my life.
01:05 I literally had a blackout.
01:07 It took me about two seconds to go from black
01:09 to actually seeing her.
01:10 Because every time we come out of this move,
01:12 coming up her leg to La Roomba, we start dancing salsa.
01:17 And the point of that, always during rehearsal,
01:19 was that I looked at her in the eyes.
01:22 And we started the moves, and et cetera, et cetera.
01:24 And when I looked at her eyes, all I saw was black.
01:27 I didn't see anything.
01:29 This man says, I've never blacked out.
01:30 I was at his birthday party three years ago.
01:32 I'm pretty sure you blacked out then.
01:34 How do you keep your partner from getting
01:36 in his head the next week?
01:38 Just stay focused and get ready to dance again,
01:40 and not stay on that step?
01:42 Well, I think, honestly, it's a little bit
01:44 about what you said, Mauricio.
01:45 I think you've got to maintain eye contact.
01:47 It really helps when you have your partner by both hands
01:49 and that you're dancing together.
01:51 And if in those moments where they're
01:52 dancing separate from you, you've
01:54 just got to attach it to the music.
01:55 You've got to make sure that you're looking at each other,
01:57 that they don't feel lost.
01:59 And with the salsa, it was just unfortunate
02:01 that that section is really heavy on arm swaps.
02:04 And we were both doing different steps.
02:06 So then when he moved himself into a place,
02:08 so I was thinking, where's he going?
02:10 I also then lost my place, because that
02:13 is directly linked.
02:14 And the only place we could pick it up from
02:16 was maybe like a little bit later when we clapped.
02:19 Listen, you're fine because you gave
02:21 America what they wanted.
02:22 You ripped off the shirt.
02:23 Oh, not the shirt.
02:25 I've been covering "Dancing With The Stars" a long time.
02:27 We don't care if you screw up as long as you get shirtless.
02:30 There you go.
02:31 Whose idea was this?
02:32 It's early in the season now, my first shirt rip.
02:34 It is.
02:35 I thought we needed it.
02:35 I was like, let's get this in early.
02:37 Whose idea was it?
02:38 It was kind of--
02:40 I mean, you choreographed the whole thing.
02:41 Yeah.
02:43 I think the salsa, you need that.
02:44 You know, he's Latino.
02:46 You want to get into it.
02:47 We did the whole Velcro thing.
02:48 And so yeah, we decided shirt's coming off.
02:51 It was hot, and it was good TV.
02:53 And you have a lot of television going on in your life.
02:56 You have your show.
02:57 You have this.
02:58 And then, of course, everyone is talking about the new trailer
03:00 for "Beverly Hills."
03:01 You said you're not watching it.
03:03 You don't want to watch it.
03:04 Why is that?
03:04 And oh my god, are you OK?
03:06 I am OK.
03:08 And I don't want to watch it because the reality is
03:10 that Kyle and I know where we stand today.
03:14 We know where we are.
03:15 And it's been super dramatized, and I know that.
03:20 And it has to be in order to be entertaining
03:22 and to capture people's attention for television
03:24 and all that stuff.
03:25 And so it's almost over-dramatized for me.
03:28 And so therefore, I just don't want to watch it
03:30 because it's just going to put me in a place
03:31 where I don't want to be.
03:32 And I don't want to see an over-dramatization
03:35 of my own life.
03:36 I already know what my life is all about.
03:37 And so you're not watching the new season then?
03:39 Well, I don't know if I'll watch the new season or not.
03:41 I mean, I may.
03:42 I'm not saying I'm not.
03:44 Everything will happen or will not happen,
03:46 but it is what it is.
03:47 Yeah.
03:48 Well, what was the hardest part about filming
03:51 this season for you?
03:54 The housewives?
03:54 Yeah.
03:55 Yeah.
03:55 I mean, filming during a time where Kyle and I were
03:59 going through a bit of a difficult time was difficult.
04:03 And the reality is that while we were filming it,
04:06 it was kind of the beginning of us going through a difficult
04:08 time.
04:08 And so it wasn't really out there, right?
04:12 And we weren't ready to tell the children,
04:15 and we weren't ready to tell ourselves,
04:16 and we weren't ready to have all of this, right?
04:18 Somebody spilled the beans to people.
04:20 We don't know who.
04:22 Clearly somebody that was probably close to Kyle.
04:25 [LAUGHTER]
04:27 He's got a name on the tip of his tongue.
04:29 I want to know.
04:30 Was it you, Justin?
04:31 [LAUGHTER]
04:33 It was not me.
04:35 And all of a sudden, we were all in Aspen.
04:38 The family was all in Aspen.
04:40 The news broke.
04:41 We were about to jump on the river with all the family
04:44 and go paddle boarding.
04:45 And we were having a really good time.
04:46 It was a really weird thing to all of a sudden
04:48 have the phone buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, buzzing.
04:51 And then the cameras picked back up,
04:52 and then they filmed some of that stuff.
04:54 But it was just-- it was a hard season, I think.
04:57 And Kyle had so many other things going on this season,
04:59 with the loss of her best friend and all of that stuff.
05:03 It was just a tough season.
05:04 And Emma, I mean, when I saw you guys were partnered together
05:07 in "Dancing with the Stars," I did
05:08 feel like this was a little bit kismet.
05:10 And I thought, oh, well, this will be nice for each other,
05:12 because you probably have a lot in common.
05:14 You went through your own very public and difficult divorce
05:16 just a year or so ago.
05:19 My worst nightmare, you have to go to work every week
05:21 and see your ex.
05:22 Oh, that's not a nightmare at all.
05:24 OK.
05:24 We--
05:25 But you're competing against him now.
05:27 Yeah, but I don't feel that, because we
05:29 support each other so much.
05:31 Like, I want the very best for Sasha.
05:33 I love him and Alison together on the show.
05:35 We support each other, like, very, very truly.
05:38 And I'll help him with his dancing.
05:39 He'll help me with my dancing.
05:41 Wow.
05:41 You know, like, we do that all as pros together.
05:43 And I don't feel that competition at all with him.
05:46 Dancing's been amazing.
05:47 I mean, it's making me feel like a child,
05:49 and dancing and jumping.
05:51 And I mean, it's just a beautiful thing.
05:52 Isn't it fun?
05:53 It's music, and it's fun.
05:55 I got to come.
05:55 We got to go watch this.
05:56 We want to see you go.
05:57 Please.
05:58 Please, no, we want to go.
05:59 Yeah, sure.
06:00 We're going to do it.
06:01 I'll be wearing a t-shirt off again.
06:02 We might hold that off for a few weeks.
06:04 We have a boring dance.
06:06 This next dance is going to be really sexy.
06:08 Maurizio and Emma, thanks for being here, you guys.
