00:41 to do things that we haven't done before.
00:44 We're in situations these characters
00:46 would have never been in in the United States.
00:49 You know, you don't have castles with moats.
00:51 It's a castle here. It's an abbey there.
00:54 It's the catacombs over here and the Eiffel Tower there.
00:57 So we really allow the audience
01:00 a different perspective into the Walking Dead world.
01:03 Daryl, I don't think he would have ever imagined any of this.
01:07 It's a new start of a story with this character
01:10 that I've been playing for 13 years,
01:12 and it feels so fresh to me.

01:21 In season 1, Daryl is, first off,
01:23 trying to figure out where he's at.
01:25 How does he get out of here?
01:27 You're from America? How did you come to be in France?
01:30 Bunch of bad decisions.
01:32 What is this place, like a convent or something?
01:35 Through circumstance, he ends up with a group of nuns,
01:38 and for him to find his way back home,
01:41 he's got to follow a map
01:43 that a priest has left behind with a young boy.
01:46 Laurent lived all his life with nuns.
01:49 He wants to be a little kid who has friends,
01:52 but it's hard for him 'cause he's very protected.

01:58 Isabelle, she believes that he has this incredible mission.
02:02 Humanity is enduring a test
02:04 from which we will soon be delivered.
02:07 Isabelle is an unusual kind of nun.
02:09 She's part of a resistance network.
02:12 Killer nuns, huh?
02:13 We can defend ourselves if we need to.
02:16 Sylvie is fierce.

02:19 She can fight, and she's not scared.
02:21 She wants to help Laurent and Isabelle
02:24 in a world where everything can just fall apart at any minute.
02:27 They realize Daryl is the man to lead them.

02:35 To get back home, Daryl, he's got to take this group with him.

02:45 But then, of course, the season is full of surprises.

02:59 They're just trying to survive and trying to get out.

03:04 There's an elegance about the savagery that's on the show.
03:08 We're kicking up the jeopardy by adding an element
03:11 that Daryl and the other characters don't understand.

03:17 So it's this sort of epic journey
03:19 and all of the turmoil that creates on the way
03:23 and that this group is running from comes to haunt it.
03:26 And it's in full force.
