Jan 19, 2018 · As someone who has shot what would be called the southern greater kudu as well as the cape kudu, I can attest to the fact that the latter tends to be smaller than the former, both in terms of body size and horn size. Having said that, regional variations in color or size do not necessarily imply different subspecies.

After that I'm looking at three or four additional animals (if lucky) with possibles being some mix between Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, Nyala , Gemsbok, and Waterbuck. Unfortunately, most South African outfitters have introduced a tiered trophy cost model for kudu. So your 55 plus inch kudu in the Limpopo may be significantly more expensive than the 40" Eastern Cape bull.
