Aug 19, 2022 · Absolutely a scam. THere's some great videos on youtube where someone sets out the ultrasonic ones in a barn that has mice all over, and they jsut crawl all over it like it's nothing. Use sticky traps and blocks. They work.

Even though the ultrasonic transducer blew out ages ago, I still use it to melt old wax and grime out of chains between wax applications, or simply soak and soften the black sedimentary strata that form on used bikes over millenia of riding without a good cleaning.

What model do you have? What can you fit in it? What cleaning medium do you use? Any gripes or woulda/shoulda/couldas?

Handy for rare use but don’t do it frequently. If there is damage to lens coating or frame paint the ultrasonic cleaning can peel off the coatings, doing more damage; or loosen decorative pieces or make them fall out. For that occasional use though it can clean oils out of hard-to-get to places, like the crevices around the lenses as shown here.

Dec 3, 2023 · The ultrasonic waves in the cleaner are supposed to lift everything off, but a retainer or denture cleaner tablet or little soap helps soften and loosen the stuff on the dentures and helps it all lift off a bit better.
