Dec 17, 2015 · Ngo 1 Mrs. Gilbert Honors English 1B 10 March 2015 Endangered Animals: The Three-Toed Sloth The Bradypus Pygmaeus, also known as the pygmy three-toed sloth, is one of the strangest creatures in the world, but unfortunately like most animals they have been greatly impacted by the negligent actions of humanity.

The Brown-throated Three-toed Sloth is approximately the size of a house cat, ranging from 45-60cm. Like all sloths it has long limbs and a small head for the size of its body. Sloths’ fur hangs ‘backwards’ compared to other mammals, lying from the stomach to their back. This enables the water to run off while it is in a tree.

A sloth fur exhibits, specialized functions; the outer hairs grows in a directions opposite from the other mammals. Sloths are medium-sized mammals. there are two toes and there are three toes. They actually only have three toes. but the two toed sloths only have two fingers.

“The two-toed sloth is slightly bigger than the three-toed sloth, though they share many of the same features. They are at around 23 to 27 inches (58 to 68 cm) and 17.5 to 18.75 pounds (about 8 kilograms)” (Bradford).
