So my resident cat, she is almost 2 and we got her at around 9mo, is afraid of our new cat, 7yrs. It’s been 3 months, took it slow, currently they are kept apart with a screen door diving the house in half. They can eat near each other fine, have been able to since about week 2. New cat is totally chill and a little curious about resident cat.

My cat (15 year old) escaped for the first time ever a few weeks ago. He was gone for 4 days and we were worried like crazy. He was in hiding mode in our neighbours back yard the whole time. It’s unlikely for them to go further than 3 or 4 houses away unless they got scared/chased by another stray or wild animal.

I suspect she’s more of a ground dweller because she’s a terrible jumper. She’s a skittish cat too. Once my cat got more comfortable, I installed a window perch with a bird feeder right outside the window.
