Dec 16, 2022 · Edit: To clarify, rogue waves are determined by the current state of the sea around you, and if you look closely, the sea is rough but the other waves are all insignificant in comparison and wouldn’t faze a ship of this size. Thus this abnormally large wave for the sea’s current state can be defined as a rogue wave.

Jul 13, 2022 · The rogue wave in this post formed in an area that already had 6 meter waves. It wasn't like it was flat water and a massive wave came out of nowhere. The rare exceptions would be a wave that was created from something like an underground earthquake.

Jul 22, 2020 · Dont believe what we saw was a rogue wave. By definition a rogue wave is one that is 2X the height of the upper average size of waves in a given period. While that wave was big and out of nowhere, it doesnt look to be 2X larger than the others

Nov 29, 2020 · The Draupner wave was the first rouge wave to be measured accurately at 25.6 meters. But presumably there are wave measuring instruments, weather buoys all over the place. If the definition of a rouge wave is one that is more than twice Hs isn’t it far more likely that the first rouge wave to be measured would be much smaller?
