Question on ICC Construction Type Classification - Table 601
Oct 13, 2019 · Table 601 indicates a 3 hour fire-resistance rating requirement for building type I. However, as per 602.2, Types I and II construction shall be noncombustible. I don't understand how the 3,2,1 hr fire ratings listed in the table 601 tie into this notion of non-combustibility.

Nov 2, 2009 · Current table 601 says "roof construction and associated secondary members" require 1 1/2 hours fireproofing. I don't know what code required at time of original permit; all I know is that it was legally permitted, inspected and occupied.
