The next time you open the document, Word shows you those existing changes again. The way to stop seeing the changes is to click the bottom half of the Accept button on the Reviewing tab (to the right of the Track Changes section) and click the Accept All Changes in Document menu item. That converts the changes into regular text.

Feb 17, 2023 · In the last week or two, Word 365 now gives a pop-up notice every time a document is opened with track changes on, that says "Track Changes Enabled" with the text " this document has tracked changes on for everyone. Edits you make will be tracked as suggestions." I have to click "OK" to clear it.

Again, as I deal with many documents throughout my day, and already have my workflow habits to move Word to the part of my screen I need it, this pop-up is more than annoying. I understand Word/Microsoft wants to highlight their new changes. But at some point they need to stop or give us the ability to turn them off.

Jun 12, 2013 · Turning Track Changes off is really a 2 step process. First you hit the track changes button to turn it off, then you have to Accept (or Reject) ALL changes that have been tracked. When Track Changes is turned OFF, Word still tracks autochorrection! I have to accept changes all the time. This was not the case for Word 2010.
