Nov 11, 2015 · Now, for what I've been reading about leap years is that there are several ways to test if a year is leap or not, but I cannot not think of a way to test for if a date "passes" thru a leap year. The way I see it is, if the the dates are 3-1-2016 to 3-31-2016 the diff will be 31 days and I don't have to add +1 even though it is a leap year.

If you just subtract one date from another, you will get number of days, as dates are saved as integer numbers in Excel, and then you divide by number of days in the given year(s). Or you can calculate YEARs MONTHs and DAYs if you need them.

I have a list employee start dates and need to know each employee's years of service as of the date that I open the spreadsheet.
