Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer and Windows Internet Explorer, commonly abbreviated IE or MSIE) is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, starting in 1995.

Aug 16, 1995 · In the original version of Windows 95, a web browser was not available, as Microsoft underestimated the potential of the rapidly developing Internet. The source code for Internet Explorer 1.0 was based on the older Spyglass Mosaic browser for which Microsoft purchased license rights.

Internet Explorer 1.0 was shipped for Windows 95 in the Microsoft Plus! Pack and in the OEM release of Windows 95 (from August 1995), however, version 1.5, was released for Windows NT 3.51 and added support for basic HTML table rendering.

For a while, it looked like Microsoft would forever play second-fiddle to catch up to the ever-dominant Netscape. This was when the infamous "Browser Wars" began in earnest... and despite the technological ground it needed to gain, Internet Explorer market share slowly grew.

Internet explorer was initially released as an add-on package for Windows 95 and the early versions came with a simple looking interface and retro icons.

Nov 25, 2019 · Internet Explorer 1.0 making its debut on August 16, 1995. It is a reworked version of the Spyglass Mosiac. It came with the purchase of Windows 95 Plus! and with at least some OEM versions of Windows 95. There is a less of functions on this web browser.
