TSI toolmaking co. uses Q as "standard flow rate", but they make an instrument that converts Q to "VolumetricFlow" by applying a density correction. See the link for the formula. Another example of this use of V is First-Sensor engineering Co., which uses the symbol V as a translation of volumetric flow at standard conditions to true mass flow.

Jun 16, 2023 · If double flow rate heat is double as well. If ΔT is double then heat is double. But when arranged for Vdot and keeping heat keep constant, increasing ΔT means less flow. I imagine two apparatus. I want flow rate of both. Apparatus 1 has Qdot and ΔT, appartus 2 has Qdot but 2ΔT. With same Qdot, but 2ΔT apparatus 2 has half flow rate.

Nov 5, 2012 · I think you are missing a flow rate in your equation and you should have: Q = 500 x G x Cp x SG x Delta T. G = Flow Rate in US Gallons per minute. The 500 x SG part of the formula converts the US Gallons per minute (G) to lbs/hr. An American Gallon is different from an Imperial Gallon. If Imperial Gallons are used then the multiplier becomes 600.

I can find a-dot in the symbol list it but the font is Times Roman. The problem is that the font in the equation editor is Calibri math. The "a" in the equation editor looks different than the a-dot that comes from the symbol list. I am unable to change the a-dot from the symbol list to the font in the equation editor. Is there a way to fix this?

For heat transfer by conduction and convection, the rate of heat flow is directly proportional to temperature difference, governed by Fourier's Law of Conduction and Newton's Law of Cooling, respectively.
