Dec 22, 2024 · I have to use clips in my 45acp Colt 1917 service revolver but prefer 2 round clips from Ranch Products. They're made for the S&W Governor but work perfectly in the Colt and I find them easier and quicker to load into the cylinder than full or half moon clips.

To my knowledge, you would need to have the cylinder milled to allow moon clips. The cylinder needs to specifically be cut to accept moon clips. You can send it off to a custom shop that does the work. Otherwise just stick with speedloaders. Don’t do it (the milling), just use speedloaders.

Oct 17, 2005 · If any one is interested, Dave Hearth is makeing moonclips for the colt I frame. I purchased some and had two Pythons cut, they work flawless. The clips fit 8 other colts like a glove.

Dec 24, 2024 · I have an S&W N frame which is cut from the factory for moon clips, and will also load and extract loose,un- mooned rounds. Could a Python be cut likewise? For me , the superiority of moon clips over speed loaders, would "Make the Snake" the perfect revolver.
