Jan 30, 2017 · Here are some miscellaneous "nice to haves" in an SPL meter. The the SPL meter should turn off after a period of non-use. It was very easy to run down the batteries on the analog Radio Shack meter since it didn't have this feature. A lighted dial would be nice. There don't seem to be many meters with this feature.

Jan 9, 2008 · So if you set the meter to a range of 70 it will measure between 60 and 80 dB. In the case of the digital meter it will read the exact number. In the case of the analog meter when the needle is on zero it is the range you set it to (70 in this case) and if the needle hits +5 it is 75 dB.
