MLA (Modern Language Association) style is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the liberal arts and humanities. Works Cited is a list of citations at the end of a research paper. A Works Cited page starts on a new page and is numbered as a continuation of the paper. Items in a Works Cited list are alphabetized by author. When no author is given, alphabetize by title, ignoring “A”, “An” and “The” if one of these is the first word.
