It does seem like it. However, I wouldn't look too much into it for now. I know the OSRS team have mentioned in the past that they've had a vague plan for Varlamore for what would be literally half a decade now, and that includes taking inspiration from a number of different player-made maps from over the years.

Did varlamore basically co opt the "early wildy" meta for ironman?
The Varlamore weapons are an upgrade path from RCB/MSB rather than a replacement. Also, wildy slayer is still far more rewarding than regular slayer with the slayer cave tertiaries, bosses and revs. Plus way more slayer points without having to Turael boost and do shitty Konar tasks. I don't think Varlamore has any impact at all there.
