Samsung takes what Google has made with the annual Android update—the Android Open Source Project (or AOSP) to be precise—and builds a fresh version of One UI, its bespoke mobile operating system complete with all the extra Samsung bells and whistles.

Samsung has confirmed the release timeline for its highly anticipated One UI 7 update. It will be available in April. The South Korean tech giant also revealed that the beta version of this update will be accessible to users of Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 starting today.

With Google confirming a June timeline for its Android 16 release, there’s barely a quarter for Samsung to update its entire line-up (bar the Galaxy S25) with the current Android 15 OS. It has become something of a nightmare that flagships are still running Android 14 almost 6-months after Pixels upgraded.

Samsung was spotted pushing an update for the Try Galaxy app, which now lets users playtest its One UI 7 enhancements. Users will find access a simulation of the Now Brief, redesigned app icons, and its refreshed Quick Settings panel changes.
