Android’s built-in QR code scanner is finally getting its long-overdue design refresh, a year after we first spotted it in a teardown of a Google Play Services beta release.

The IRS is using the technology to allow taxpayers to scan codes on two particular notices, the CP14 or CP14 IA, with their smartphone and go directly to IRS.gov.
