AWS's newest database plugs a gap with a new in-memory database based on the popular Redis platform. It goes beyond ElastiCache with durability for persisting data across multiple availability zones.

AWS has expanded its ElastiCache service with a second popular open-source caching engine, Redis. The company has offered Memcached, on object storage cache, for some time.

Redis Labs is now offering its Redis Enterprise Cloud fully managed cloud Database-as-a-Service through the AWS online marketplace, the company announced at its RedisConf2021 event.
